The California Board of Equalization and Alcoholic Beverage Control Licenses database contains the master file of California sales and use tax licenses and the entire California Alcoholic Beverage Control database. This information is updated monthly.

The Board of Equalization (BOE) data includes all individuals and companies that collect sales tax in the state of California. The information comes to us directly from the California Board of Equalization. The Alcoholic Beverage Control database includes all individuals and companies licensed to sell liquor and includes inactive records dating from the 1930's.  Information supplied also indicates whether the business is a corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship.  The information for sole proprietorships and married partnerships is available through November 2000 and July 2001, respectively. After these dates California discontinued the sale of this information for privacy reasons.  The current status of historical sole proprietorships and married partnerships may be verified through the Merlin web site query page for this database.  

Unlike similar BOE databases, this database is searchable by partial name, full name, address, business name or file number.  Merlin's indexes allow keyword searching on any word in any field.  New updates are added to the database without purging the historical information.

The search charge listed below includes up to five hundred hits per search.  If a search results in greater than 500 hits, there is no charge and you will automatically be prompted to narrow the search.  As with all Merlin California databases, when a search results in no hits, there is no charge.
