Assessors File
Merlin’s Assessors database contains information
compiled from county assessor records from all 50 states and
the District of Columbia. Each property record includes state,
county, parcel number, up to two owner names, the site address,
mailing address, land use designation, assessed value, year
assessed, last update, and, owner occupied indicator. Portions
of the Assessors file are updated monthly. Since each county
reports its annual information at different times of the year,
the age of the data will vary and is indicated by a Last Update.

CarFacts contains national vehicle registration information,
searchable by owner, address, or VIN. This database includes
over 105 million records from numerous public and private

LOCATE SERVICES & REPORTS
Locate Services & Reports are services performed by
Merlin’s in-house research experts.Results
are usually returned within one business day.The
XML request is submitted and logged, after which the research
job is assigned to a Merlin professional who works diligently
to locate the subject’s information and then returns
results electronically.
Background Check Report
This product consists of a series of manual searches to
identify the subject of a Background Check request. Once
the researcher positively identifies the subject, that
information is submitted to generate a Standard
Background Check.
Investigative Locate Report
An Investigative Locate Report is the result of a series
of manual searches by a professional research team to determine
a guaranteed, verified current address for the subject.
Merlin’s research staff use a variety of databases and
search tools, including online databases, postal information,
forwarding address requests, and telephone interviews with
neighbors, relatives, and associates.
Merlin Information Services is a licensed investigation
agency, therefore this product may be advertised as a
“professional investigation”. All liability
for any and all searches performed for an Investigative
Locate Report are the sole responsibility of Merlin, not the
Partner.
Merlin will interview each customer before performing any
services to verify the customer’s identity and to
determine and verify legitimate reasons why the customer
needs to locate the subject of the investigation. If the customer
’s research request does not meet the legal criteria
set by Merlin, the order is terminated, and there is no charge.
NOTE: This product requires direct contact between the
Partner’s customer and Merlin's Locate Services team.
Adoption Locate
This search locates an individual involved in an adoption.
Similar to an Investigative
Locate Report, although typically more complex,
the service determines and includes a guaranteed, verified
current address for the subject.

Updated monthly, the CA Board of Equalization & Alcoholic
Beverage Control licenses database is the master file of California
sales and use tax licenses, plus the entire California Alcoholic
Beverage Control database.
Obtained directly from the state, the Board of Equalization
(BOE) database includes all individuals and companies that collect
sales tax in the state of California. The Alcoholic Beverage
Control database includes all individuals and companies licensed
to sell liquor and includes inactive records dating from the 1930's.
Results also indicate whether the business is a corporation,
partnership or sole proprietorship.The information for sole
proprietorships and married partnerships is available through
November 2000 and July 2001, respectively. After these dates,
California discontinued the sale of this information.

CA Fictitious Business Names contains information on filings
in sixteen populous California counties, reflecting the intent

name. These filings are recorded at the county recorder's office
and must be renewed every five years. Since different counties
maintain their data at varying levels of proficiency, the
quality of the information varies from county to county. The

CA Marriages
This database contains the State Registrar's Index of all
marriages in the state of California from 1960 through 1985.
The state no longer offers this database for sale, making Merlin
one of the few sources for this valuable information. Each record
contains the husband's name and age, the wife's maiden name and
age, the date of marriage, and the county.
The age at and date of marriage provides a valuable clue
to researchers about the year of birth. The wife's maiden name
helps identify relatives who may be helpful in a person search.
The county of marriage may indicate a current location or at least
presents an historical reference point. Some counties provide
records reflecting previous married names for the bride.
