National Sales Executive

This senior level sales position is responsible for selling Merlin data products and solutions via our direct distribution channel.  The national sales executive focuses heavily on business development with high volume customers within the collections industry.  The national sales executive is also responsible for ongoing relationships and retention for key Merlin accounts.  This position may be located at our main office in Kalispell or work out of home-based office.   Compensation for this position is performance-based, with a base salary and commission on sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sales Results
    • Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales quota objectives by acquiring and retaining customers.
    • Assist in the determination of market demand for targeted products and solutions.
    • Call on top levels of organizations to sell products and solutions to gain new business and further penetrate existing accounts.
    • Develop sales proposals, and present to prospects & existing customers
    • Generate new business in assigned territories through prospecting, cold-calling, networking and generating leads and referrals.
    • Negotiate pricing and contracts.
  • Training /Meetings
    • Continuously update knowledge of Merlin products, solutions, industry trends and the competitive dynamics of the marketplace.
    • Participate in training opportunities on products and solutions and attend sales meetings.
    • Participate in trade shows and conferences, promoting company image and products.
    • Travel out of town for trade shows and on-site customer visits as required.
  • Sales Forecasting, Planning and Reporting:
    • Research, develop & maintain prospect lists
    • Produce regular activity reports & travel plans for management approval
    • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of corporate strategic plans and procedures to coordinate sales plans
    • Fully utilize all sales force automation, funnel management and prospecting tools.
    • Manage sales funnel, generate reporting on sales activities and forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers.

Qualifications and experience include:

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field and five years related experience selling public records/data solutions to the collections industry. 
  • Must be a sales “hunter” with proven superior professional selling, prospecting, networking, funnel management, negotiation and closing skills.
  • Experience managing seven figure annual sales quotas and proven ability to identify, qualify, negotiate and secure six figure contracts.
  • Documented track record of meeting/exceeded assigned sales quotas
  • Basic understanding of internet delivery systems and knowledge of database structure. 
  • Strong ability to keep abreast of new industry trends.
  • Effective use of PC including knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be available for 25-50% travel.
  • Good knowledge and experience with complex sales cycles.  
  • Good project management skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with “C” level executives.
  • Formal presentation skills before both small and large groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position in a friendly, polite and intelligent manner to encourage and enhance relationships and sales revenue with prospective and existing customers.
  • Must have valid driver's license, good driving record and proof of insurance.
  • Public record industry knowledge and/or database technology experience is preferred.

Senior Accountant

Takes a lead role in the day to day operations of the Accounting department.
Ensures the accuracy of financial reporting and general ledger entries. Prepares financial statements and management reports. Provides guidance to Accounting department staff.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Financial Reportinzg:
  • Prepares trial balance, balance sheet, profit and loss statement, amortization and depreciation schedules, and other financial reports.
  • Creates reports to project future revenues and expenses. Prepares overall budget reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs.
Auditing & Tax Compliance:
  • Ensures the accuracy and proper reporting of payroll, property, and other tax requirements.
  • Participates in audits of company wide internal controls, financial processing and reporting.
Asset Management:
  • Maintains records of property and equipment, value, location, and other information.
Financial Transaction Processing:
  • As directed by management, establishes chart of accounts, and ensures general ledger entries are coded to proper accounts.
  • Analyzes records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries.
Credit Management:
  • Identifies past due or delinquent receivables. Initiates follow-up or collection activities.
  • Assists management in training and supporting staff in the department.
  • May represent accounting department on various project committees as assigned by management.
  • Performs any and all other duties deemed by management for the financial support of the company and/or the ongoing growth and success of Merlin Information Services.

Qualifications and experience include:

Qualified candidates will have education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and five years of related accounting experience.

Other necessary skills include: excellent leadership, analytical and project management skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; mastery of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Project Manager

Primary purpose of this position is to plan and manage the delivery of new products and systems solutions in support of business objectives and company strategic goals. This includes systems and project planning, requirements gathering, estimating, problem resolution, risk management, execution and implementation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Project Plan Development
    • Makes sure a detailed Project Charter has been prepared with clear business case and how benefit will be measured.
    • Creates and executes project plans and revises appropriately to meet changing needs and requirements.
    • Makes sure project stakeholders and participants are appropriately identified and consults with project stakeholders and participants to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
    • Creates and maintains project specifications which include detailed requirements, business rules, and prototypes.
    • Makes sure each project includes a Quality Assurance Plan, Risk Assessment Plan and Marketing Plan when appropriate.
    • Works with project sponsor(s) and key team members to create and execute implementation plan.
    • Manages day-to-day operation aspects of a project and scope, which includes change management, project scheduling, resource management (with involvement from resource managers), and risk management.
    • Effectively applies project management methodology and enforces standards.
    • Works closely with Project Sponsor as liaison between the business side and technical side.
    • Facilitates project team meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Prepares and presents project status and details as required to upper management.
    • Effectively communicates project status, issues, risks to sponsor, project team members, and Merlin employees
    • Works with IT Ops to procure the necessary hardware and/or software.
    • Ensures project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
    • Suggests ideas for improved Project Management solutions.
    • Performs other duties assigned by management to support the ongoing growth and success of Merlin Information Services.

Qualifications and experience include:

Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, project management training and at least three years of experience in technical project management with basic knowledge of operating systems and programming. Project management certification (Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent) is preferred. Other critical skills and experience include strong verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills and proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools.

Senior QA Engineer

This position is responsible to examine, validate, and test large scale software development and deployment projects.   

Duties and responsibilities for this senior level position include: 

  • Certify the level of quality for new, modified and/or existing data processes and applications.
  • Coordinate with project, development, and test teams to define quality assurance processes for project plans,
  • Create and meet delivery schedules for testing activities
  • Create and maintain test automation framework.
  • Evaluate and test data products and software programs to verify functionality according to specifications and standards.

Qualifications and experience include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field.
  • 3+ years of development, test automation and/or database test experience.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Senior Software Engineer

This position requires an essential knowledge of numerous web programming languages utilized for both client-side and server-side. It entails designing, architecting, and developing Internet software that interfaces with large databases to retrieve and display information.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Performs programming activities, including analysis, design, programming and implementation
  • Analyzes data and develops logical solutions
  • Selects programming language and software products best suited for the task

Technical Support Specialist

This position is responsible for assisting the Sales team with a variety of day-to-day batching activities, customer support, and administrative duties. This position requires a balance of technical knowledge, teamwork and excellent communication skills to ensure the sales team has the internal support to fulfill sales initiatives and deliver a high level of customer support. The ability to support multiple team members and prioritize numerous tasks is also essential.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the Sales team to provide day-to-day support of the batch cycle activities.
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for prospects and customers in regards to batch-related activities and questions.
  • Deliver general and technical support to the existing customers (i.e. portfolio) serviced by the Sales team.
  • Support marketing action plans and schedules to support target markets.
  • Maintain a high level of batching expertise, process test and billable batches with multiple vendors
  • As needed, act as a technical resource and participate in customer conference calls
  • Process customer orders via CRM.
  • Attend sales and operational meetings as planned.
  • Provide batching information and updates to Sales team as needed (e.g. pricing, specifications, etc.).
  • Record client information and sales progress in customer database on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Perform other duties deemed by management to support improved sales, and/or the ongoing growth and success of Merlin Information Services.

Education and Experience

Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related field and two years related work experience.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Strong attention to detail.  Excellent with MS Office products, especially Outlook, Excel, Word and CRM tools.  Strong technical skills with file management and delivery methods.  Industry knowledge and/or database technology experience is a plus.
